Rebound Therapy

Rebound therapy is the therapeutic use of the trampoline to develop and promote motor skills and body awareness, balance, coordination and communication.
The benefits of this practice is that it improves fitness, health and increases opportunities for pupil independence whilst having fun.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapists carry out regular assessments of pupils who have particular physical needs in respect of posture, balance, co-ordination and mobility. Working in collabiration with school staff, they develop individual programmes. The School is a recognised centre of excellence for The MOVE programme.

Total Communication Team

The Total Communication Team comprises, Elinor Murray Speech and Language Therapist from ABUHB and Becky Rush HTLA. Through a Service Level Agreement (SLA), one day a week is designated to supporting pupils and staff across school. Support is delivered via training and promoting the communication needs of our pupils.

All staff have received training on total communication and how best to support our pupils through this approach making them effective enabling adults.

Nursing Team

Pupils medical needs will largely be met by the School Nursing Team from the Community Childrens Nursing Team. A medical care plan will be created for each pupil who need it. The school has a policy on the administration of medication to pupils as long as the parents give clear written instruction. Medication must be labled with the pupils name, dosage and frequency. Visiting doctors call at Crownbridge School to carry out regular medical checks and clinics for most pupils, the school nurse is in attendance and appointments are arranged in advance with parents being notified and invited to attend.

The mobile dental van visits school regularly to ensure that pupils dental care can be maintained, providing parents give consent, necessary treatment can be provided.

Music Therapy

At Crownbridge school we offer music therapy by a trained and very experienced music therapist.
